A Most Exciting Evening 6/14/08

Last night in Des Moines, Iowa a little bit of Masonic History was made. Regular readers of this Blog will know that we have been working to establish a new Lodge in Iowa. This is a different type of Lodge in that we will have some elements of a Traditional Observance Lodge, and some of a European Concept Lodge. If you want to read more about what we are calling a Restoration Lodge you may click here.

Last evening we met with Brother Bill Crawford, Grand Secretary to discuss and fill out the necessary paperwork to begin this new venture. the Grand Master will have to issue the Dispensation but for all purposes we have enough Certificates of Good Standing to get started and make the request to him. He left the meeting with the Certificates and the necessary Fee for that request. We also recommended a set of officers for him to appoint. Timothy Bonney was recommended for Worshipful Master, KurtHoffmann for Senior Warden and Fredrick Killian for Junior Warden. Here are some snaps of the meeting and the dinner afterwards.

Following the meeting several of us adjourned to the Django's Restaurant for the Festive Board. We were joined by the Prince who is about to celebrate his 5th Birthday.

The tradition of going out to eat and listening to papers will be one of the real assets of this Lodge. We are all interested in learning more about Freemasonry and in working together in a close knit group of no more than 50 Masons (the Lodge limit according to our by-laws). We will only hold 6 stated Meetings a year and will have Festive Boards at local restaurants on the other months. We chose the last Friday of the month as our meeting date as most other Lodges that we belong to and will probably continue to participate in meet on other nights.

I am the Acting Secretary until we get our Dispensation and then I can take the Acting off from my name. (Acting Up?) and so I had to write the minutes, etc. I was so tired last night that I couldn't even Blog. I did not have my Wordzzle post done and I wanted to share some pictures that people had sent me. It had to wait until this morning. Anyway I am very excited to be a part of this group and hope that there are some others who will see the value of this type of Lodge and join with us
